FORT HORSTED GHOST HUNT – 17TH MARCH 2012
1. Group C
We first went to room 10 and after taking photos, lighting tealights and having a general look around, we held a séance. I immediately felt spirit behind me by extreme cold and being pushed and pulled. Two guests next to me felt the coldness too. We started hearing many different noises in the corridor; footsteps and faint whistling. I then saw a shadow in the doorway, then a guest saw a shadow in an alcove in the wall and the tealight in the alcove flickered greatly at the same time. Other guests were feeling ‘cobweb touches’ on their faces. We then stood in the corridor with the laser grid on asking for spirit to come near. We threw two led balls down the corridor and one seemed to rest against the wall then roll away from the wall and slightly back towards us.
2. Group A
We went to two upstairs rooms in the fort, but after nothing seemed to be happening we moved down to the corridor. We set up the laser grid pointing down the corridor and two of the guests saw one of the red lights turn off then on. We split up into two smaller groups along the corridor and asked out for spirit to make themselves known. After not much being heard we walked down towards a smaller room, and just before entering a whistle was heard. We stayed in this room for a short while before leaving. I then took two members of the group to room 10 for a short while whilst the remaining guests visited the graffiti area.
3. Group B
I took this group to room 10 and after a short while started with a séance circle. Guests were seeing different lights through the doorway into the opposite room, and again different noises were being heard. Jo (guest) started feeling very unwell. She was feeling sick, hot and dizzy. We broke the circle as she felt she needed to be sick – which she did! After checking that Jo was happy to continue we stepped into the corridor and set the laser grid up. Again we threw the led balls down the corridor but nothing happened. We then decided to rejoin the other groups and just before leaving, whilst asking the guests if there is anywhere they may like to return to before the end, the lights on the K2 meter lit up for the first time that night. We asked spirit if we should stay by lighting up the K2 – nothing happed. We asked spirit if we should go back to the first room the group had been to that night and the lights on the K2 went on. We then proceeded back to the narrow dead-end tunnel for a short while, but only heard just a few faint noises and whistle.
I would just like to thank all the guests for a great night and a special thank you to Paul for his generous hospitality throughout the evening.

Fort Horsted ghost hunt – 17th March 2012
As a team we look forward to every visit at the Fort, mainly because every single time something unusual or interesting happens, again we were not disappointed.
Even before the ghost hunt had begun, I was showing the team around the Fort as there were some new areas opened up or cleaned up that we could use, whilst in one of these areas, two team members were with me, one stayed at the bottom of the steps. The three of us heard a whistle, I thought it was Carl (who stayed at the bottom) but when we descended the steps, Carl said he didn’t whistle nor had he heard a whistle.
A couple of weeks earlier I had visited the Fort to shoot some video and exactly the same thing had happened then, in exactly the same area.
Whilst in this area Sean felt someone blow in his ear and as I was showing Sean the entrance to the lighting tunnels I just had to fall over! As I often say to the guests and manager at venues, if anyone is going to fall over or bang their heads it is usually me!
We split the group up into smaller groups and each group headed off to their favourite areas, I volunteered to take all the groups to the double casements, as this involves a strenuous 67 stepped staircase. After the group had looked at the various rooms we started a séance in an area which in the past has proved very popular. A male energy by the name of Marcus stepped forward he gave me the date of 1978 and he was 34, and a mechanic. There was some small amount of movement from Marcus but some of the group were not patient and wanted things to happen instantly. Very little else happened in this session because the same people spent most of the time chatting or making unnecessary noises.
The second group that I took to the same area, had already had a very interesting first session, in this area a male energy called Taylor (which I presume was his surname) stepped forward he was in his late 30s or early 40s. He gave me the year as 1972 and he drove a gold coloured Ford Cortina with a red interior and his love was to accessorise his ‘baby’ (the car). When I asked what he did for a living he seemed very reluctant to divulge this information.
A female energy also joined us, her name was Annie and she was a WWI Nurse or FANY. (First Aid Nursing Yeomanry), she came across as being quite strict and was offended by some of the comments made by a male guest. In fact his EVP question was one of the clearest from the whole night.
Both Taylor and Annie started to move the arms of the guests and one guest felt as if she were being pushed down, as she commented that she felt a heavy weight on her shoulders. As a group we all heard whistling and mumblings, some of the guests saw red lights whilst others saw white lights. Guests also felt strange coldness spots and breezes, which is not unusual for this particular room and toward the end of the session groans and grunting were heard by everyone in the group.
We finished the session with an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) or ghost voice experiment.
The best can be heard at http://youtu.be/qy0JxPAPa2s
The third group to this area had already seen and sampled most of the rest of the fort but once again this particular session (which is probably the most active area within the fort) was just as interesting. We were joined by a WWII soldier called Taff and Timothy, both in their early 20s. Taff was a Welshman with a loud voice and of stocky build, whereas Timothy was from Sunderland, fair skin and ginger and quite shy. There was a third soldier in the background although he never came into this room. There was plenty of movement and guests were pushed by unseen hands, all quite gentle though. We all heard whispering and mumbling again, as if we were hearing the sound of a conversation but not the actual words spoken. There were also some tapping sounds and some rather louder bangs. Some of the tapping noises were in response to me tapping my torch on the railings.
At one point I called out to spirit to make another noise and at that precise moment an owl which I gather was nesting in the moat or on top of the fort called out, which made everyone jump!
The last session we allow the guests to go wherever they wish to and I took a group to casement 10, which was damaged most during the tire fire which lasted for three weeks. This area is also where previous ghost hunts have had experiences with lit candles, because these rooms would have been used to store ammunition, the spirit energies that are present are all too familiar with what happens to open flames near ammunition. Whilst standing with the guests in the left hand room a male energy by the name of Philip made himself known to me. He gave me the year as 1672 (the Fort was not built until 1880) and he kept himself inside the lighting tunnel, almost too afraid to join us. Some of the guests saw shadows in the lighting tunnel as there are four ‘windows’ into the lighting tunnel in this room.
Once again a very eventful ghost hunt and at a location in which the guests thoroughly enjoy mainly because of its lack of modernisation, but that is what is part of its appeal.

Hen night ghost hunt at the Red Lion Hotel, Colchester – 9th March 2012.
As a team we were thoroughly looking forward to returning to the Red Lion as it was a brilliant ghost hunt the first time around, this time we were hoping for more of the same. We also came prepared with more of our kit, this time four infra-red remote cameras, which our guests can control throughout the night.
Colchester is a very interesting place, not least because about 30mins before we started a group walked by outside dressed as Cavaliers, random and strange!
The Hen party group had not done anything like this before and my introductory talk didn’t help matters when I told them that we would be predominately in the dark, some guests became scared at this.
However once we spilt into two groups, one heading for the haunted bedrooms, the other into the Parliamentary Restaurant and bar. Each group had a range of electronic kit, namely K2 metres and our ghost communicators, alongside some of our less technical kit, bouncy led balls.
After a while a young male energy 8-9 years old made himself known to me, he was dressed in a smart suit with knee length trousers, not a school uniform and he was from the 1850s and as I said at the time he would have grown up to be a gentleman as he was from a well to do family.
I also sensed another male energy who I met on our last visit, he was a grumpy old bugger as I put it. He mainly stayed near to the bar or public toilet entrance. The guests enjoyed their time communicating with the energy. The energy however didn’t like me the first time and he surely didn’t like me this time. The energy was about 70 years old, fairly short wearing a flat cap and smoking a pipe. Whilst Michelle was communicating with him and asking him to touch her, another guest who was in the restaurant felt a touch on her elbow. During Michelle’s questions I recorded some audio and a very clear EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena, a.k.a. ghost voice) was recorded.
One of the guests proclaimed his name was Robert. When asked if this was true the communicator responded with a “Yes” answer. The guest in question (Julie) stated that the energy held her hand when we were in the restaurant and that it was a pleasant experience for her. Although at this point Julie was rather tearful.
We also started using the writing planchette and some writing did occur, although the results were not conclusive. All the while Michelle was communicating to the spirit via our ghost communicator.
Our communicator device also flashed quite a lot which we have never seen before. The energy asked if I would move further away, which I duly complied with.
The energy also stood very close to Michelle and during this time our camera was out of focus, as soon as the energy stepped away from Michelle the camera refocused. Although when the energy returned and stood beside another guest (also Michelle) the camera went out of focus again.
Many guests saw a shadow within the restaurant which due to the lighting could have only come from within the restaurant (as the lights were outside on the wall) at the same time everyone heard a sound, although we have no idea what it could have been. Also one of our motion sensors was set off when no-one was near it.
Many guests commented that they felt uncomfortable in the ladies toilet, this seems to be a recurring feature of the ghost hunts that we have undertaken at the Red Lion hotel.
After a short break we headed for the cellar, which is one of the most interesting cellars I have encountered. On speaking to the manager he hold us that there is reputed to be a tunnel which goes to the Castle from these cellar, whether this is true or not remains a mystery.
As usual when a person walk heavily on the gratings outside the noise reverberates throughout the cellar, and when this happens all the guests jump!
A male energy was fairly quick to join us, his name was Archie de Marquis and he proceeded to give the guests some sense of his presence in the form of gentle touching and moving the guests arms.
Many guests felt pins and needles in their arms, cobweb sensations around their faces and numbness throughout their arms.
All in all a very enjoyable evening for the guests and us.

Bicknor Woods ghost hunt 2nd March 2012
When we arrived at the church there was evidently a group of people in the church yard trying to experience ghostly activity or their own paranormal investigation, so instead of annoying them, we made our way down to the woods, which are far more active than the churchyard.
The evening was virtually perfect in my book for ghost hunting, thick fog and no moonlight, it made the woods seem even more dark and spooky than normal.
After walking for about 10 minutes I stopped where I recognised some of the trees from one of our previous excursions and we held a séance.
A male energy by the name of Roger joined us and he came across as being a flamboyant or theatrical type of person, as he was wearing what I call a flowing shirt, baggy and made of rich material. He looked very similar in appearance to Russell Brand!
Roger however told me that he was a carpenter and worked in Chatham during the 1870s and he was 27 years old. Roger was a fun loving spirit energy and he proved this by manipulating Russ (guest) and my arms and generally making people laugh as he made his way around the circle.
Another male energy joined us, a farmer 70 years of old who first told me his name was Gerald and then Geoffrey, whether this was his full name I do not know. Although in the following EVP experiment he did clarify.
Both the spirit energies physically moved guests, Russ was pushed into Kim and Simon was pushed forward much to his surprise.
Simon also commented that he saw red sparkles of light further along the path and behind me during the séance.
After the séance I conducted an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) or ghost voice experiment. Usually we get maybe one or two possible EVPs from this experiment but on this occasion I recorded eight questions and six had some response, four of which could be very easily understood. The second one below is probably the clearest EVP I have ever recorded.
After walking a little further along the path I decided to divert from the main path and into the woodlands beside some very old trees, it was a similar patch of ground that the very first time I came here that strange things happened during that investigation. Strange things happened on this one too.
After attempting to use my laser grid, which although was interesting, didn’t prove to be very useful as the fog and mist distorted the laser, or rather the mist highlighted the beam from source to whatever the beam hit, it looked like a giant spiders web.
We formed another séance circle, Roger from the first séance came back and this time he was smoking a pipe. There was also another male energy called Tom or Thomas who was from 1500s and he told me that he was a settler and lived nearby to these woods. His clothing seemed to be all homemade and held together with twine.
First of all the spirits started to move everybody’s hands and arms and gave some guests a gentle push forward or pulled them backwards, then Russ exclaimed that Adam (guest) face looked whiter than normal, admittedly he was wearing all black clothing, but his face did seem to have changed to those who were opposite him. Russ even commented that he could see defined features on Adam which were not Adam’s. Several of the guests also saw red and white lights in the distance which were generally behind me and Adam, not torch lights but small pin pricks of light. Shadows were also seen behind me.
At one point Russ thought he saw someone poke their head out from behind a tree; however this could have been some branches that were attached to the tree. There were many noises heard by everyone, these noises sounded like footfalls rather than animal sounds.
Adam decided that he would leave the circle, and as soon as he did then the movement felt by all the guests increased dramatically, guests were pushed over and across the circle and the majority of peoples arms were raised to the same level.
When I announced that we were leaving the woods and asked spirit to do something memorable as a finale, the spirit activity surged and suddenly we were all being moved in some way, some guests were pushed on to the ground, unable to get up of their own accord and then as soon as we have composed ourselves we were pushed to the point that everyone got tangled up in some sort of ghostly game of twister!
Guests saw green lights against the church when we were standing beside the road and some guests noticed that a strange coldness seemed to come from the direction of the church.
Once again this was a very interesting ghost hunt and one which the spirits seem to enjoy as much as we did, the level of activity felt by the guests is probably greater at this venue than any other of our outdoor ghost hunts.
Ghost Hunt Events
Molland House Ghost Hunt on 25th February 2012
Our first session was upstairs in one of the bedrooms, I chose this room because it was nearest to the “Haunted room” and furthest away from a colleague who was watching and controlling our remote cameras. One of these cameras was positioned opposite the doorway to the room we were all in.
Our K2 metres picked up on lots of energy at various times and then a male energy aged in his late 60s stepped forward. He gave me the impression that he was quite strict, although he would not tell me his name he implied that he owned the house in 1760s. This male energy would have stood about 5’10” but he appeared to me bent over with a spinal disorder. This male energy stayed around long enough for reasonable communication via our electronic equipment.
During this period we heard lots of noise downstairs, like someone entering the house and walking up the stairs. This was not possible because the front door was locked from the inside.
When talking to Carl (who was downstairs throughout the investigation) he said that he had heard a door slam and although he investigated this he could not find a door that could slam as most had automatic door closers on them.
From this room we went up into the attic room where an 8 or 9 year old boy made himself known to me. He was called Emmanuel or Manny for short. He passed over with small pox. During the time here more noises were heard and mumbling which all guests heard at one stage or another, since it wasn’t a windy night this mumbling could not be explained. Whispering could also be heard by some guests and Sean (who was filming) heard a female whisper “Manny” on the landing of the stairs. Several guests also felt cold spots.
After a short break we headed into the “haunted room” which two of our guests were staying overnight in. Danielle (guest) and some other guests used Danielle’s Aura glasses and tried some scrying in the mirror, everyone saw an older lady transfigured over whoever stood in the middle of the room. A male energy made himself know to me. He was aged in his mid-30s with a tall and stocky build and came across as a very angry energy who said that he was falsely accused of rape. He hung for his crime. Many guests including myself saw lots of strange shadows in the room and more or less at exactly midnight Carole (guest) felt very unwell. Danielle said she had experienced a similar feeling the night before at around midnight. Our respective K2 metres picked up varying activity through the session.
In another room a male energy came forward he wasn’t associated with the house and told me his name was Colin Gyllyanvase, which sounded familiar to me as it is a Cornish name and he was in fact a Cornishman, aged in his 30s and a spirit energy who was just visiting. Whilst I was communicating with this energy many guests heard footsteps on the landing and other tapping noises.
After this we headed into the very strange cellar which was quite big albeit low celings, but the cellar had two entrances, one near the main staircase and the other near to the Kitchen, I and some guests stayed in the cramped conditions whilst some remained in the bigger part of the cellar. Those guests asked spirit to copy three knocks and immediately the fluorescent light flashed on and off. Then they heard noises from upstairs, and were about to investigate when my group came back and the noises stopped. According to those people the noises sounded like someone or something scraping their feet on the floor or gravel.
We have recorded quite a few light anomalies from our remote cameras, too many to feature on our website or our Social Media channels. These however will be available on our TV website which will be launched in March or early April 2012.
However one of the instances we have uploaded to YouTube and you can watch it at http://youtu.be/FiH4alilvUc
Below is a photo of light anomalies (Orbs) taken on the main landing.
